Fancy a Little Tipple?
Then you’re in for a big surprise.

If the Little Tipple’s Gaudi-esque sign above the entrance doesn’t give you a clue about the individuality of this family-run village shop in Long Ashton, near Bristol, then the weird and wonderfully organic timber counter and fixtures that greet you once inside certainly will.

It’s like a grotto, with every nook and cranny filled with interesting wines from small family vineyards from around the world and full-bodied craft beers from local breweries. And that’s before you realise that, squeezed between more familiar bottles, there are also some rather remarkable and tempting single malt whiskies, vintage ports, liqueurs, sherries and ciders each individually selected by its owners. Château Mercian Koshu sur lie 2017
Winemaking at Chateau Mercian in Japan in fact dates back to 1877 but Its wine only arrived in the UK in May this year. This elegant wine is made from Koshu, Japan’s most widely planted native wine grape. It's a delicate, dry white wine with refreshing aromas of melon, lemon, lime, sudachi and apple, plus yeasty undertones of toasted bread derived from the 'sur lie' method where pressed juice spends an extended time on its yeast lees. 11.5% ABV £13.99
